Ms. Showalter always delivers a good and enjoyable book. She tends to switch between male and female point of view which works well for her. In this new series regarding the Otherworlders, it's a nice start with Solomon and Vika coming together. I always wonder about how Ms. Showalter comes up with these different types of aliens? Creatures? What do we call them? Solomon is one which is definitely different and nothing I've ever encountered. In fact, the world he comes from is intriguing and I almost wish Ms. Showalter would spend sometime just in that world.
Ms. Showalter's worldbuilding is fantastic...to an extent. It's as if she only gives the reader a little peek into her new world through tiny little peepholes. The reader isn't invited into the Otherworld. We never get the full story. We just get a little taste and it leaves me a bit dissatisfied. This is why her book rates 3.5 star instead of a 4. I'm going to remember Solomon and the atrocities perpetrated upon Vika. However, the rest of it all? I'll be lucky to remember in a few weeks. This is the drawback of providing just a little bit. It's harder to fully visual and remember it when a reader goes through as many books as I do.
This book is recommended to Ms. Showalter fans who enjoy an alpha male protecting his mate.
