His and Hers and Hers - Nona Raines Menages are not easy. Neither is living in sin when a family expects a long term relationship to grow into a marriage. Ms. Raines pens a rather melancholy look at marriage. While the focus isn't supposed to be on heterosexual relationships, the main point I took away from this book is that marriage is a death keel and bad.

There are three marriages in here which are atrocious. One is a man cheating on his wife yet behaving in a jealous hypocritical manner. Another is a man trapped in a marriage because he married his knocked up girlfriend who "suddenly" miscarries after they are wed. Lastly, there is a marriage where the husband is abusive and sends his victim enabling wife into the hospital. Does Ms. Raines hate men or hetero marriages? Her mockery of this is no different than heteros deriding alternative relationships. It's distracting from her menage. I would have enjoyed it better with this just focused on Kyla, Jordan and Cassie's smexy menage.

Instead of reading about a new triad coming into being, I'm being dragged down by hateful noise. Disappointing. The amount of insecurity and dysfunctional drama in most of the characters is definitely a downer too. Kyla and Cassie aren't good enough for Jordan. Based on their issues, they will ultimately drag him down.
